Evacuations underway in Compton neighborhood after possible explosive device found

Evacuations are underway in a Compton neighborhood after the sheriff’s department received a call about a possible explosive device found inside a home.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said they received the call shortly before 1:30 p.m. from a person claiming to have found a possible explosive device.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of North Chester Avenue and issued an evacuation order, as a safety precaution, for homes within a two-block radius while they worked to determine if the device was dangerous…
