‘Mangia!’: Exhibition explores how Italians shaped U.S. food culture

A new exhibition titled “Mangia! The Evolution of Italian Food in the United States” is on display at the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles through summer 2027.

The exhibition explores the history of Italian food in the United States through photographs, objects and artifacts, showing how Italian Americans helped shape culture, identity and the country’s culinary traditions.

“We’re excited to share what I think is a universal topic,” Marianna Gatto, executive director and co-founder of the museum, said. “It’s multi-layered, because that story is really like you’re telling the story of Italian Americans by telling the story of their food.”…
