The California Department of Justice announced an independent investigation into a deputy-involved shooting that took place outside the Lancaster sheriff’s station over the weekend.
It occurred on Saturday around 2 p.m. when a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy responded to Lancaster Boulevard and Sierra Highway on reports of a person with a knife.
The responding deputy was allegedly assaulted with the knife, which prompted the deputy to open fire, LASD said.
