Local social network app Nextdoor recently released its 2026 affordability ranking for California towns. Using data from Nextdoor Neighbors and 3rd-party data sources, they created an affordability ranking ranging from 0 to 100. While you may not have heard of these smaller towns, you can soak up just as much sun and get a taste of smaller-town living in these beautiful communities. Farmersville: Good for kids and dogs
Nestled in the state’s central valley, Farmersville, as the name suggests, is surrounded by orchards, dairy farms, and other commercial agriculture. One sweet spot is family-run stand Phan’s Strawberries, while nearby Ford Farms boasts a petting zoo, pony rides, and a pumpkin patch.
