Crosswalk Parking Crackdown Underway Across County

LOS ANGELES – A parking spot near a crosswalk can now come with a $63 ticket in areas patrolled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, as county parking officers enforce rules meant to clear sightlines at intersections.

The “daylighting” law bars drivers from parking within 20 feet of the approach side of a marked or unmarked crosswalk, or within 15 feet of a crosswalk with a curb extension.

The rule applies even if the curb is not painted red – meaning drivers can be cited for parking in spaces that may look legal at first glance…
