That’s exactly what happened to Jordan Stannard, a 38 year old father from the Los Angeles area, who is now recovering after doctors amputated part of his left leg following a crash in Venice, California.
Stannard and his wife, Julie, had just wrapped up a grocery run and were loading their two young daughters into the car along Venice Boulevard. It was an ordinary errand, the kind most parents run without thinking twice about where they’re standing or how close traffic might be. Then headlights appeared, closing in fast.
Stannard didn’t have time to think. He had his two year old daughter, Sadie, in his arms, and his only move was to get her out of harm’s way. He tossed her into the car just before a pickup truck slammed into him. He absorbed the impact meant for his little girl…
