Authorities in Los Angeles County will intensity enforcement against illegal street takeovers as deputies are ready to ticket those who participate in the events during the Fourth of July weekend, the LA County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
Anyone who participates in street takeovers, including organizers, promoters and drivers, are subjected to a $1,000 fine.
Despite recent increase in penalty, street takeovers continue to take place, often accompanied by other violent events. Last Sunday, one man died while six others became injured in a shooting that occurred near a street takeover in Carson, the sheriff’s department said.
