In-N-Out Burger’s battle for a drive-thru at a proposed Culver City location, just steps from an elementary school and an already congested intersection, has sparked a larger debate about urban air pollution as several California cities have moved to limit or ban the proliferation of drive-thrus.
The Southern California-founded burger chain has proposed a new restaurant at the northeast corner of Sepulveda and Sawtelle boulevards that would be part of the existing Studio Village Shopping Center.
According to the proposal, the approximately 1.119-acre site would include a 3,890-square-foot restaurant with seating for 84 guests indoors and 44 guests outdoors. The project would also feature a 61-space parking lot and, crucially, a drive-thru lane with capacity for 26 vehicles…
