The new roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood apparently soft-launched on Monday, and nearby residents aren’t exactly screaming with excitement.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is the park’s first high-speed outdoor coaster, rocketing riders along a track filled with twists and inversions from the Upper Lot to the Lower Lot, and then back again.
As part of the design, Universal installed sound shields at key points along the track to help contain screams, and also filled the track with pea gravel intended to dampen noise.
