Nearly 10,000 public health complaints about Los Angeles street food vendors have exposed a disturbing list of sanitation problems, from meat being eaten by a dog before it was served to customers to mice running beside open salsa and food left baking in the California heat.
The complaints come as Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has moved to stop police from issuing criminal citations to street vendors who violate city rules.

The 9,746 complaints were filed with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health between 2023 and early 2026, according to records obtained by the California Post through a public records request.
