Sept. 1 (UPI) — California firefighters and wildlife officials responded to a park where a mother bear and three cubs fell into a concrete cistern full of water.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said crews responded late Saturday night to Marshall Canyon Regional Park in La Verne when some residents running the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park’s 5-Mile Loop Trail discovered the trapped bruins.
“We heard this howling, whimpering noise and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from,” runner Jamie Kirk told The Los Angeles Times.
