A boat carrying 24 suspected immigrants attempting to enter the United States was stopped roughly 40 miles offshore of Los Angeles on Sept. 6, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Southwest District.
A crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal came across a 28-foot cuddy cabin boat roughly three miles south of Santa Barbara Island, at around 11:15 p.m. Saturday. The coast guard stopped the boat and boarded it at around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday to investigate.
“The crew members boarded the vessel and detained 24 suspected aliens,” the U.S. Coast Guard said.
