Beloved L.A.-area coyote euthanized after vets determine she was shot

A beloved coyote known to Studio City residents as “Wendy” was recently euthanized after veterinarians determined that her ailments were the result of a serious pellet gun wound, which became infected, the wildlife rescue organization that captured the coyote announced Tuesday.

Wildlife Care of Southern California captured Wendy late last month after weeks of work to track down the local animal, which was suffering from a large growth on her face. The organization hoped to get the coyote medical treatment and return her to the wild. However, her condition was more severe than previously thought.

Diagnostic imaging showed two pellets lodged in Wendy’s head, “indicating that she had been previously shot,” the organization said. The infection brought about by the injury was so severe that it completely destroyed the upper jaw bone on the left side of her face…
