Traffic on Los Angeles’ 6th Street was temporarily closed after dozens of minibike riders were surrounded by police as part of an operation to curb illegal street takeovers in the city, KTLA has confirmed.
LAPD Deputy Chief German Hurtado, commanding officer of the department’s Central Bureau, told KTLA photojournalist Phil Ige that officers had been tracking a group of minibike riders known to police for this type of activity.
“We were following this group until we got them into a position where we could safely stop them all, take them into custody and impound the minibikes,” the deputy chief said…
