Law enforcement in Los Angeles arrested two defendants employed at L.A. -area nonprofits involved in homelessness programs for alleged fraud on Wednesday, September 16, as the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California announced on its official website.
Two defendants out of three charged were arrested and charged in separate federal homelessness corruption and fraud cases. They are accused of misappropriating more than $7.5 million in taxpayer funds and using the money for the construction of a nightclub and commercial real estate. They are also alleged to have used the money to finance a bingo hall.
