A stretch of road in the Palmdale area was a step closer Tuesday to being named in honor of a Los Angeles County deputy who was killed in an ambush shooting at a stoplight in the high desert community.
The county Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to rename part of Avenue Q in honor of Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer. The 30-year-old law enforcement veteran was killed Sept. 16, 2023 as he waited in his patrol SUV at a red light near the sheriff’s Palmdale station.
The city of Palmdale already voted to rename the stretch of Avenue Q between 10th Street East and 40th Street East in honor of the fourth-generation law enforcement officer. The county board’s motion directs the county to do the same for the section of Avenue Q in unincorporated territory outside the city limits, between Sierra Highway and 10th Street East…
