Alhambra Police K-9 helps officers in over 400-lb cocaine bust

The Alhambra Police Department’s “good boy,” a K-9 named Otis, assisted officers in discovering over 400 pounds of cocaine being illegally transported by a single driver, the department announced Saturday.

It happened in the area of Valley Boulevard near the 710 Freeway, according to police.

Officers conducted a traffic stop for reasons that were not immediately disclosed and said the driver was transporting “more cardboard boxes than Amazon on Prime Day (which is coming soon, btw),” the department said in a statement.

The driver first told the officers he was heading home to Huntington Park from his cousin’s house, and that the boxes did not belong to him. However, later he changed the story, saying he was taking diesel parts to a shop that his friend owned…
