Franklin High student’s death ruled a suicide

Highland Park–The Franklin High student who plunged to his death from a fourth-floor walkway last week died by suicide, the L.A. County Medical Examiner has ruled.

Xavier Nungaray-Martinez, 17, died at a hospital from “multiple blunt traumatic injuries of head and torso,” according to the medical examiner site.

Students told reporters that Nungary-Martinez was involved in a brief fight in a classroom before the fall at about 1 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Videos posted on social media showed two students in an altercation in the classroom, with a teacher standing between them trying to separate the pair…
