FBI exposes suspected Mexican-Mafia murder, extortion plot in L.A.

A suspected Mexican Mafia associate opened fire on a vehicle in a Pomona neighborhood, spraying more than a dozen bullets at a person who had allegedly been marked for death over a debt to the notorious prison gang.

The July 2026 shooting was part of a larger murder conspiracy and extortion scheme that led to charges against nine people, including eight alleged associates of the Mexican Mafia, according to the FBI.

Investigators said the trouble began when the victim broke one of the gang’s rules over a perceived debt and was placed on an “86” list. He was essentially “banned from entering the city of Pomona or illegal casinos run by the Mexican Mafia under the threat of death,” federal investigators said…
