Dozens of Los Angeles County Restaurants Ordered Closed in October for Vermin and Other Health Code Violations

Los Angeles County health inspectors ordered 35 restaurants, markets, and other food businesses to close between Oct. 8 and Oct. 23, and vermin was cited in 31 of those closures. The closures appear in county Department of Public Health records compiled by RestaurantClosures.LA, which lists facility closures from the past 30 days and links each entry to its county inspection report.

Twelve of the 35 businesses were still listed as closed when Food World News reviewed the data on Oct. 28. The rest had reopened, many within two to four days, after the problems that led to the closure were addressed. The other closures were for sewage discharge, a lack of hot water, or no way to clean and sanitize equipment.

For diners in Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley, the South Bay and the Valley, the list is a practical tool. A closure means inspectors found a problem serious enough to stop food service on the spot, and a reopening means the county allowed the business to serve again. Checking the record before a meal, especially for a place you visit often, takes only a minute.
