As California Raises the Minimum Wage, Los Angeles Burger Joints are Increasing Their Pricing.

In the Golden State, the cost of a burger and fries may increase at certain fast-food establishments. some goods (if you haven’t already) as businesses try to find methods to cut expenses before a California law that will raise the minimum wage for fast-food employees in April takes effect.

Four-time Los Angeles Fatburger franchise owner Marcus Walberg told Business Insider that he has already increased menu prices and reduced staff hours in response to the new regulation.

Walberg stated to a Business Insider that he felt that there would be a lot of pain to workers as franchise owners are forced to take drastic measures.

California’s minimum wage is currently $16 per hour, but it will rise to $20 in April. The action follows the enactment of AB 1228, which was suggested in response to the growing expense of living and the fact that the majority of fast-food employees are either at or below the federal poverty line. According to the measure, “the urgent and immediate need to provide fast food workers a living wage” was brought on by the rising cost of living.
