Winter Warmth: Temperatures in some parts of California to hit 80s, 5-10 degrees higher than normal

Residents of Southern California are advised to prepare for a significant weather shift as warming temperatures are set to surge beginning Friday, accompanied by Santa Ana winds that could reach gusts of 30-45 mph, with isolated areas experiencing up to 50 mph gusts. The National Weather Service’s Los Angeles office issued a statement detailing the expected weather patterns for the upcoming days.

Starting Friday, highs in the 70s to low 80s are anticipated, marking a departure of 5-10 degrees above normal. The warming trend is expected to persist, with ensembles showing a strong ridge that will likely last well into the following week. This prolonged period of high pressure is projected to keep temperatures 10 to as much as 20 degrees above normal.

Sunday is expected to be a notable day, with offshore gradients peaking around -6mb. This will result in another breezy day, particularly in the typical Santa Ana wind-prone areas. While gusty winds are anticipated, the forecast suggests limited upper-level support and little to no cold air advection.
