Suspect Shoots at Moving Southern California Train, Hospitalizing 2 Passengers

One passenger sustained a head injury from dodging the bullets and another had a gunshot wound to the leg

Two people were hospitalized after a suspect fired off gunshots at a moving train in Southern California on Wednesday, according to authorities.

The suspect shot at a Metrolink train as it was leaving the Palmdale station at around 9:40 p.m., Metrolink told KTLA . The train was headed to Lancaster station.

“Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Palmdale Station responded and confirmed a shooting had taken place in the general vicinity, but not on board the train,” Metrolink said.

When the train arrived at Lancaster station, a female passenger said she sustained a head injury from dodging the bullets. She was transported to a local hospital.

A male passenger was also taken to a local with a gunshot wound in his leg.

Both injuries are non-life-threatening, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told FOX 11 .

Video taken by the station showed deputies inspecting several bullet holes on the side of the train, which Metrolink said was taken out of service.
