Suspect taken into custody after hourslong standoff in South L.A.

A man wanted for an alleged assault with a deadly weapon was arrested after barricading himself inside a South Los Angeles home on Thursday, authorities told KTLA.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 2100 block of West 80 th Street in the Manchester Square neighborhood around 11:45 a.m., LAPD said.

The suspect, who was only described as an adult male who was believed to have rifles inside the residence, refused orders to come out.

Video of the area posted to the Citizen App showed a heavy police presence, including several LAPD SWAT vehicles in front of the residence.

Access to the street at Van Ness Avenue was cordoned off during the hourslong standoff.

It is unclear if anyone else was in the residence at the time, but no injuries were reported.

Authorities confirmed that the man, whose identity was not released, was taken into custody at around 2 p.m.

No further details were provided.
