Weeks after several Pizza Hut franchises announced layoffs for more than 1,000 delivery drivers, L.A. historic Filipinotown workers walked off the job Friday.
Those employees are calling for worker protections and are also alleging wage theft. KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian spoke with Mysheka Ronquillo, who is part of the fast food workers union.
“That’s part of their family livelihoods, and now that’s being ripped away and taken from them because corporations don’t want to pay their delivery drivers $20 an hour,” she said.

Ronquillo said that everybody deserves a living wage. She also alleged that these workers weren’t getting breaks and experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.
KNX News reached out to Pizza Hut’s corporate team for a response.
