The storm is forecasted to dump more than eight inches of rain in some parts of coastal California
Celebrities preparing for this year’s Grammy Awards might want to consider wearing rain boots on the red carpet, as a storm bears down on Los Angeles , promising heavy rain and potential flooding.
The city is likely to see a “Pineapple Express” – a quick-moving atmospheric river with origins in Hawaii.
The timing remains unfortunate for many as flooding and strong winds could continue through February 4 – the night of the Grammy Awards , which will be held at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
“What we’ve got going now is a very active period when the upper-level jet is stretching across the Pacific,” Marty Ralph, director of the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes, told Fox Weather .
“There’s a lot of moisture being transported in a series of atmospheric river storms associated with that. And they’re sort of stalled a bit over the Northwest for a few days here. And soon they’re going to move down the coast along into California.”
