In a major crackdown on organized retail theft, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) nabbed over $5 million worth of stolen goods, including a horde of 58″ Hisense flat-screen TVs and a variety of consumer merchandise; in a series of raids that bring to the forefront the ongoing battle against sophisticated heists targeting the retail sector. According to LASD’s official Facebook page, the operation was led by their Major Crimes Bureau Organized Retail Crime and Cargo Theft Task Force (ORCTF), and it kicked off after the theft of the TVs from the City of Commerce was reported.
