A Major Storm will hit Southern California Sunday-Tuesday. Bracing for Heavy Rain & Gusty Wind

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An low-pressure system and associated atmospheric river will impact the region all week bringing heavy precipitation, gusty winds, and cooler than normal temperatures. Put this like the Tropical Storm Hilary that hit last year but stronger in some parts, because it will last about 3 days of heavy rain.

The Southern California Weather Force has issued a rare Flood Emergency effective Sunday February 4 through Tuesday February 6, 2024. Plus more rain showers on Wednesday-Friday then a small dry spell before more rain.

The updated timing of the storm will be posted Sunday morning and the update rain and snow totals. No snow for the top of the Cajon Pass with this storm. The snow level will be high then drop about to 4,000 feet by Tuesday.

The first of the upper-level dynamics (rain and wind) will start Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon, with the center and major part of the system through night. Southern California Weather Force forecast models indicate a high risk of flooding on Sunday extending all the way west of Los Angeles to Santa Barbara and Ventura’s latitude. As for the rest of counties, just because you are not in an emergency shading area, This still means major flooding is to be expected during the multi-day event. Heavy rain showers will hit the Vegas area too.
