Landslide closes busy California freeway connector ramp; Hillside compromised by major storm

In the wake of the powerful storm that has been battering Southern California, a mudslide has led to the closure of critical roadways in downtown Los Angeles.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced that the southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) to southbound State Route 110 (SR 110) connector, as well as the Riverside Drive on-ramp, are currently closed due to the mudslide.

The closure, implemented under a Sig Alert, is situated at the southbound I-5 transition to southbound SR 110 in downtown Los Angeles.

Caltrans has not provided an estimated time for the reopening of the affected roadways, emphasizing the need for motorists to seek alternative routes and stay updated on the situation. The mudslide has created hazardous conditions, and the closure aims to ensure the safety of commuters during ongoing cleanup efforts.
