Below-normal temperatures across Southern California before rain returns with back-to-back storms

The National Weather Service’s Los Angeles/Oxnard office forecasts a week of dry conditions coupled with persistently below-normal temperatures until at least the middle of next week. Residents can anticipate locally breezy Santa Ana winds persisting through Monday, adding a crisp edge to the Southern California air. The next chance of rain is on the horizon, slated for later next week into the approaching weekend.

As of the latest update at 3:39 PM PST on February 10, 2024, light offshore flow is currently in effect. Winds, although mostly below advisory levels post-morning peak, are expected to pick up overnight into Sunday morning. Some localized areas in the LA/Ventura Valleys and mountains may experience low-end wind advisory criteria, with speeds ranging between 35-45 mph.

The weather for the next few days promises cooler temperatures but remains low-impact overall, blessed with abundant sunshine. While temperatures are anticipated to gradually climb with rising heights and a touch of offshore flow contributing to downslope warming, most areas are expected to hover at or slightly below normal levels. The dry air will enable nighttime temperatures to dip into the 30s across certain coastal and valley regions—just shy of frost/freeze conditions.
