Walmart Closes Three Stores in California as as Part of Business Adjustments

Walmart is narrowing its physical footprint in California, with the announcement of three more store closures this month, adding to the growing list of locations the retail giant has shuttered in the state.

The first closure in this latest round was a Neighborhood Market in San Diego, which closed its doors permanently on February 9th. Located at 2121 Imperial Ave., the store had been operational for less than a decade. In a statement, Walmart spokesperson Brian Little expressed gratitude to customers and reassured that the company looks forward to continuing service in the area through its other locations.

Following closely, Walmart closed a supercenter in El Cajon, a move that has sparked disappointment among community members. The closure of the store on Fletcher Parkway has raised concerns about the impact on local access to groceries and the potential increase in food deserts.

The third closure announced is a Walmart store in West Covina, located southeast of Los Angeles in the Eastland Center shopping plaza. This store is set to officially close on March 29th, ending years of service to the local community.
