Winter storm expected to reach Southern California

A storm that originated in the Gulf of Alaska is expected to reach Southern California Tuesday and spread through the region until Wednesday bringing light to moderate rain and snow, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service said isolated thunderstorms are possible from Wednesday until Thursday.

Drier conditions are expected by the end of the week.

Snowfall will affect higher mountain roadways, including Angeles Crest Highway and Highway 2, on Wednesday. Snow levels are expected to be between 5,000 and 6,000 feet and above.

There is a low chance of snow on the Grapevine on Interstate 5 with an inch in the forecast.

Between 1 and 3 inches of snow are predicted in areas above 5,000 and between 3 and 7 inches of snow above 6,000 feet.

It will be partly cloudy and breezy with highs in the mid-60s in Los Angeles on Tuesday
