Canyon Country Man Arrested After Stealing Bitcoin Mining Computers Valued Over $500,000, LAPD Says

A Canyon Country man was arrested by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) after he was allegedly in possession of over $500,000 of stolen bitcoin mining computers.

On Thursday, LAPD detectives from the Commercial Crimes Division’s Cargo Theft Unit (CTU) arrested Bryan Thola, 27 from Canyon Country who was in possession of stolen bitcoin mining computers, according to a statement released by the LAPD.

“The computers recovered from the suspect’s cargo van and from a public storage unit, are valued at $579,000,” LAPD officials said.

Thola was booked into the LAPD’s Van Nuys Jail on a felon count of receiving stolen property.

Currently, the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Commercial Crimes Division at (213) 486-5920 between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The exact location of where the cargo van was located or any other additional information into the suspect’s arrest was not released to the media.
