NOPD’s Kirkpatrick: “I am not a candidate” for L.A. police chief

New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick says she is not in the running for the top cop job in Los Angeles.

The comments come after an online list included her name and picture.

“I did want to address for those of you who know that a list came out today that I am a candidate for Los Angeles police chief, and I just needed to let you know I am not a candidate,” Kirkpatrick said in a video sent to NOPD members Saturday.

It came after a consultant posted Kirkpatrick’s name and picture on a list of top candidates to run the LAPD.

If she is not a candidate, why is here name on the list.

WWL Louisiana reached out to Burke Consulting Firm. The company’s CEO, Alma Burke, told the TV station it was a post designed to forward the conversation.

“I am not part of the search committee.  I am retired LAPD, interested observer, and supporter of some of the candidates on the list,” Burke said. “The post allowed for dialogue amongst law enforcement and key community stakeholders.”

Kirkpatrick has been the chief in New Orleans since November.
