Man sentenced for deadly shooting at Redondo Beach Pier

A man was sentenced to prison after a person was found shot to death at Redondo Beach Pier.

Alexis Martinez, 29, from Inglewood, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, Redondo Beach police announced Wednesday.

On Feb. 16, police responded to the parking structure located at 100 West Torrance Boulevard at around 6:10 a.m.

A public works employee had spotted the unconscious victim lying on a stairwell inside the parking lot. He was identified as Teddy Campos, 43.

Arriving officers found Campos with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, no suspect was located in the area. Police believed Campos was homeless.

After gathering evidence and receiving information through a public tip line, detectives identified Martinez as the suspect.

On March 6, he was located in Inglewood and taken into custody. On Aug. 27, Martinez appeared at the Torrance Courthouse where he was sentenced for the killing.
