Actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality star Kim Richards is in trouble. She is struggling to the extent that she was placed on a psychiatric hold. Those types of holds are very serious and are not administered casually. The incident is most likely believed to be tied to her continued struggle with substance abuse disorder. Richards is going nowhere good and fast. Hopefully she can turn things around sooner than later.
Kim Richards’ Struggles
Richards has been struggling with an addiction to alcohol for years. Her sister, Kyle Richards, publicly outed her substance abuse on RHOBH in 2010. She has been in and out of rehab at least once in 2011 and twice in 2015. It appeared that the reality star was doing well with multiple years of sobriety. However, it’s clear that at least in September of 2024 that is no longer the case.
The family reportedly has cut off contact with Ms. Richards after the psychiatric hold in early September. The family is trying the ‘tough love’ method as they fear that the former child actor may abuse alcohol until she passes away. Being the family member of an addicted individual can be incredibly complicated. Although this sounds like a questionable method, it might also be for the mental health of the individuals who have supported her through thick and thin.
