Kawhi Leonard’s Clippers career has been a disappointment to Bill Simmons

Many were disappointed when the Clippers did not re-sign PG13.

When the Los Angeles Clippers pulled off the trade for Paul George in 2019, most of the NBA community was excited to have two teams in the city that could compete for a championship. The Lakers won the title in 2020, while the Clippers failed to advance past the Western Conference Finals.

They paired PG with Kawhi Leonard, forming a superstar duo, but they struggled to be a successful team. Injuries caught up to them almost every year, leading the NBA community and the media to brand them as failures due to their untapped potential. Bill Simmons spoke about how disappointing it is for Kawhi to stumble over the past five years.

“It’s sad, but at the same time, he won a title and made a ton of money and had an exciting career, and he’s gonna be a Hall of Famer,” Simmons said in his podcast. “It’s still a bummer. We never got to see it for an extended stretch with the Clippers. It would be half a season, three-fourths of a season; it just never happened.”
