Two Los Angeles murder suspects arrested in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Two people wanted for an alleged murder in Los Angeles, Calif. were safely taken into custody in Salt Lake City on Thursday morning, Oct. 24.

Jasani Johnson, 21, and Wynter Smith, 20, were booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges of theft of a motor vehicle and obstruction of justice in a capital or first-degree felony case.

Both Johnson and Smith were reportedly wanted on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated murder. The Salt Lake City Police Department did not provide details on the alleged California crime. ABC4 is working on learning more and will update this story if more information becomes available.

Ogden school resource officer accused of sexual exploitation of a minor

Just after 2 a.m. on Oct. 24, the Salt Lake City Police Department reportedly received information about a stolen car from Los Angeles registering on license plate reader technology. Officers began checking the car’s last known location and found the suspects inside the car parked near 400 West and 600 North.
