Twenty-two people were stuck in the air on a Knott’s Berry Farm ride for more than two hours after it malfunctioned Monday.
Park mechanics were finally able to crank the ride down to the ground and let people off without serious injury, though some riders were taken from the scene in wheelchairs and others were visibly limping.
“At approximately 2:00 pm, the Sol Spin ride experienced technical difficulties causing the ride to stop mid cycle,” a statement from Knott’s Berry Farm read. “We followed the ride manufacturer’s and Knott’s emergency procedures to safety evacuate the 22 guests by 4:30. Out of an abundance of caution, two female guests were transported to the hospital for further evaluation.”
The condition of the two guests transported were not immediately known.
The ride was stuck in a horizontal position, with some riders seen leaning sideways. None appeared to be hanging upside down.
There was no information immediately available on what caused the ride to come to a halt.
