Pursuit suspect falls down 30-foot hill while fleeing police in Southern California

A pursuit came to an unusual end when a stolen U-Haul crashed in Monrovia over the weekend and the driver fell down a hill while trying to flee from officers.

The pursuit began early Saturday morning when police first spotted the stolen truck in Alhambra.

Authorities chased the suspect for several miles before the driver crashed in Monrovia.

“He veered off the path and into the wilderness, driving like a maniac until he crashed into a tree, narrowly avoiding a plunge off a cliff!” the Monrovia Police Department posted on Instagram Monday.

The suspect scrambled out of the truck and then tried to jump over a wall but ended up tumbling 30 feet down a hillside, police said.

Officers eventually found the unidentified suspect hiding behind a home and took him into custody.
