A 31-year-old man died Friday morning after the vehicle he was riding in collided with a pole at high speeds.
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on the 18800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance.
Officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to the scene and found a gray 2024 Nissan Sentra that had crashed into an electrical pole.
Two people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, including the driver, a 46-year-old man from Hawthorne, and the passenger, a 31-year-old Inglewood man.

The two men were rescued from the wreckage and the driver was transported to a local hospital, but the passenger was declared dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
The northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard near the crash site were closed for several hours as traffic investigators analyzed the scene.
Investigators believe that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds when it lost control while negotiating a curve in the roadway before crashing into the electrical pole.
