Mayweather Boxing Gym Employees in Hollywood Protest Nonpayment of Wages

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (KNN) — A group of employees and members of Mayweather Boxing and Fitness gathered in front of the gym’s location in the 1700 block of Highland Avenue in Hollywood early Tuesday morning to protest nonpayment of wages by the company.

Employees also stated that working under harsh conditions, such as unsanitary bathrooms and parts of the gym, has harmed their emotional and physical well-being.

Members of the gym attempted to help employees with their financial struggles by offering money, and people were offering free Chick-fil-A cards so they could eat, one employee told Key News Network.

Employees spoke on camera to explain their side of the story and how not being paid has deeply affected them. Many cannot pay bills or rent and have had family issues due to unpaid wages.

Some long-time gym members expressed their support for the employees at the protest.

The gym’s in-house and resident chiropractor, Dr. Day, has seen the stress progressively affect the coaches, employees, and members. She said seeing this team where they are right now is disheartening and discouraging. Something needs to be addressed and made right, and everybody here needs to be made whole.
