Proud parents had extra to celebrate this New Year’s Day with the arrival of new additions to their families.
In Los Angeles county, several hospitals reported births in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
The newborns don’t just represent a new chapter in the lives of their parents; they’ll also be the first members of the newest cohort of humanity: Generation Beta.
Meet the first babies of 2025:
At Dignity Health – California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles, baby Magnolia was born at 3:37 a.m., weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 54.5 centimeters.
Her mother, Maria Sanchez of Los Angeles, celebrated the happy arrival with hospital staff.
A few hours earlier at Cedars-Sinai, Ellington James Green was born to parents Bret and Marlene. Weighing in at a “hefty” 9 pounds 4 ounces, Ellington’s parents say they were hoping for a New Year’s Eve birthday, which would match three of his uncles.
