California’s “Engaged California” Platform Sees Soaring Sign-Ups for Los Angeles Fire Recovery

SACRAMENTO – More than 6,000 Californians have already joined the new deliberative democracy platform, Engaged California, which launched this week. The first discussion focuses on Los Angeles fire recovery efforts, allowing survivors and others to shape the conversation around recovery priorities.

Gov. Gavin Newsom highlighted the platform’s success, emphasizing the state’s shift toward inclusive public engagement: “We’re bringing people together for a conversation that can help us change how we normally do things.”

Participants can share thoughts, vote on others’ comments, and engage anonymously through engaged.ca.gov. The platform is part of a broader initiative to strengthen democracy with digital tools, in collaboration with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
