Police are narrowing their search for the driver of a Lamborghini SUV who fled the scene after causing a violent collision on Highland Avenue on March 31 that left an 18-year-old girl dead. Authorities said on April 2 that the investigation is moving forward but the driver has not yet been identified.
The crash occurred around 1:25 a.m. at the intersection of Highland Avenue and First Street. The Lamborghini was heading north on Highland Avenue at a high speed when it struck a Toyota RAV4 with a group of teens traveling east on First Street, said Detective David Holmes, with the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division. The Toyota was occupied by five teens – two boys and two girls ages 18-19 and a female minor, Holmes said. All five were taken to hospitals by the Los Angeles Fire Department. A female passenger seated on the right rear side of the Toyota was later pronounced dead.
“It’s tragic. They were all friends,” Holmes said. “We believe speed was a factor. The Lamborghini was traveling at a high speed on Highland. We have been speaking to neighbors and officers have been able to get a video from one of the houses on Highland that shows the collision.”…
