‘Mini heat wave’ to blanket Southern California this weekend

The National Weather Service is advising SoCal residents that a “mini heat wave” will set in this weekend.

Much of the heat will be felt in inland communities, NWS said in their area forecast discussion on Saturday morning.

“High pressure aloft will keep the weekend [heat] away from the coast,” the area forecast discussion reads. “Max temperatures will be similar to Friday’s very warm readings…more records could fall [on Saturday].”

Weather officials noted that the “mini heat wave,” which peaks Saturday, will bring highs of 88 to 98 degrees to the region, which is 10 to 20 degrees above normal. Sunday will still be hot; temperatures as high as 90 degrees are forecast for some areas.

Officials also advised local residents that the “mini heat wave” poses a high risk for heat illness, especially for sensitive populations…
