The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the death of a robbery suspect, 43-year-old Rashad Green, following an encounter that led to his fatal fall from a third-story window on South Main Street. According to the LAPD, officers were responding to a crime alert bulletin to locate Green, who was wanted in connection with a robbery at the same address on March 31, 2025. The incident on May 7th ended with Green attempting an escape by lowering himself out of the window with a rope, resulting in him falling to the pavement and sustaining critical head injuries.
The response by Central Patrol Division officers began around 11:00 a.m., as they interacted with a resident of the apartment where Green was subsequently spotted with a knife. Despite warnings and the deployment of a TASER, which proved ineffective, the situation escalated when Green threw what seemed to be an ashtray at the officers. As the LAPD detailed in their released statement, the officers’ attempts to neutralize the threat non-lethally did not subdue Green, ultimately leading to his attempt to escape and consequent fall.
The aftermath of the fall left Green unconscious, and despite the efforts of Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics who transported him to a nearby hospital, Green remained on life support until May 18, 2025, when he succumbed to his injuries. Further details of the incident are still being scrutinized, as the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division (FID) leads a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident…
