LOS ANGELES — California Parole Board commissioners granted parole for Manson Family member Patricia Krenwinkel, who killed seven people and an unborn baby and scrawled ‘Helter Skelter’ and ‘Pigs’ with her victims’ blood, during the Manson Family cult’s murderous two-day rampage through Los Angeles.
Krenwinkel, 77, appeared at her first parole hearing on May 30 since Governor Gavin Newsom reversed a parole board’s decision to set her free in 2022.
Parole Board Commissioners said Krenwinkel, who declined to speak during the four-hour hearing, based their decision on the fact that clinicians found Krenwinkel to be low risk of reoffending. Commissioners found that Krenwinkel’s youth at the time of the murders, 21, and her exposure to harmful relationships significantly factored in the murders.
“This decision does not minimize or forgive the criminal conduct or the loss your victims and their families have suffered,” said Commissioner Gilbert Infante. “At the time of these crimes, you exhibited all the hallmark features of youth. When we look at subsequent growth, you have made strides, and this is evidenced in the work you have done.”…
