Procession in Los Angeles for Baldwin Park Police Officer Killed in Shooting

LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 1 (KNN) – A Baldwin Park Police Department officer was fatally wounded in a shooting in a Baldwin Park neighborhood Saturday evening.

Baldwin Park police responded to calls of a shooting incident around 7:15 p.m. in the 4200 block of Filhurst Avenue. According to a press conference regarding the incident, responding officers located one unresponsive person at the scene, and at least two officers were fired upon by a suspect initially reported to be armed with a rifle. Both officers were transported to local hospitals; one by air and the other by ground ambulance.

Law enforcement agencies gathered at Los Angeles General Medical Center after receiving notification of the death of one of the shot officers. A procession took place around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday as the deceased officer was transported by van to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office on Mission Road in Los Angeles.
