Nothing ruins a fun night in the backyard more than unwanted visitors. And when those visitors arrive in swarms, leaving red and itchy welts behind when they’re done, you may find them even more unwelcome than an uninvited houseguest. Yes, we’re talking about mosquitos. And, these flying insects are more than just a nuisance, since their bites can cause more than mild discomfort, especially when they are carrying diseases like malaria and West Nile Virus.
Unfortunately, some areas of the U.S. are poised to have a more mosquito-heavy summer than usual, thanks to an expected population boom. According to a new report from the experts at Orkin, there 10 cities where mosquitoes are expected to be a big problem this season, and they include some major metro areas.
According to Orkin, the company is getting the most mosquito complaints in the following cities, making them the 10 most mosquito-prone areas at the start of summer 2025:
- Los Angeles
- Chicago
- New York
- Atlanta
- Detroit
- Houston
- Dallas
- Washington, D.C.
- Cleveland
- Denver
